Eight Youth Clubs Compete in 2012 Needham Team Challenge Meet

Children from 8 youth teams (Needham, Quincy, Westwood, Nashua, Walpole, Hudson, South Shore Fireboltz, and Nitehawks) competed in the first big NTC meet of the season on June 27, 2012. Nearly 400 children competed 7 running events (120 heats) and 6 field events. Host Needham prevailed with their strength in the 5-6 and 7-8 age groups. There were 6 triple winners: Angelina Coletti of Quincy TC (age 5-6), Sydney Spytek of Needham TC (age 7-8), Emilia Henry of Quincy TC (age 7-8), Abby Coy of Nashua (age 9-10), Tyrese Marshall of Quincy TC (age 11-12), Evan Anderson of Needham TC (age 11-12).

The Needham Team Invitational Meet had its start in the 1990s when John Hrones (Needham) and Geoff Hennessey (Quincy) wanted to put together a friendly competition across youth teams in the area. The is invitational and not open to the general public. The teams recently participating include the Needham Track Club, Quincy Track Club, Nitehawks Sports Club, Hudson Recreation, Waltham Track Club, and Nashua,.We have invited the South Shore Fileboltz this year, as well.
