ELLIGIBLE AGE RANGE: 9th grade through college and post graduate COMMITTMENT: Generally 2 nights per week plus special events PAY: Yes ! (or fulfill COMMUNITY SERVICE requirements) SCOPE: Each summer, the Needham Track Club hires roughly 50 students in the role of CITs (ie. coaches in training ). We look for motivated young men and women who enjoy hard work and comraderie. Experience in Track and Field is a plus, but not a must.
The job entails setting up equipment for each regular track session, and packing it up at the end of the meets. The time range for the regular meets is 5:45pm to 8:30 pm. Generally, CITs travel with an age group while helping at different events. CITs work with the young participants as well as the adult coaches. Having and outgoing and assertive personality helps in this role.
If you think you have the right attributes to be in the CIT group, please fill out the (attached) application and mail it in. We would like to have all applications in hand by May 1st.
SPECIAL EVENTS: Sunday May 3, 2009 - The Great Bear Run We expect CITs to work as volunteers at this race, since we are trying to earn funds for specific charities. This is a great time, and a good opportunity to learn the dimensions of organizing and conducting a road race.
Friday-Saturday, July 17-18, 2009 - The Needham Youth Classic. This open track meet is one of the most complex youth events in the entire US. CITs take a key role in officiating this two day track meet. We strongly encourage CITs to keep these days open !
Wednesday, July 8, 2009 - The All Star Meet. A six club meet in which Needham is represented by its best athletes in a wide range of competitions. Again, CITs are needed to officiate.
